FAQs
1. What qualifications and certifications do you have as a personal trainer?
NASM-CPT, CES, and many other certifications, such as ISSA, NCSF, and more.
2. How much experience do you have in personal training?
I started personal training in 2003.
3. What is your approach to fitness and health?
A very non-biased, evidence based, science driven, individual approach.
4. How do you tailor your training programs to individual clients' needs and goals?
Based on whether they are male or female, their body type, their age, their goal, their previous training experience, and their personality, and what they like and don’t like. In some cases, we’ll look at genetics and muscle type.
5. Can you explain your nontraditional training methods, such as resistance band training and biohacks?
You can read about my full post regarding resistance band training HERE. As for biohacking, it’s simply using science to make the training efficacy more efficient and more effective. For example, cold water exposure before lifting weights can positively boost hormone levels. Getting more deep wave sleep can improve cognition and help burn stubborn body fat, etc.
6. What is your philosophy on nutrition? How do you incorporate it into your training programs?
My philosophy is that it is individualized based on 1) who the person is (physical condition and personality) 2) what they do during the day 3) and their goal is. I use the ketogenic approach for many people, however, there are certain cases where a higher carbohydrate diet may be superior.
7. Can you tell me more about the ketogenic diet and how it can aid in fat loss?
Read about it HERE.
8. What is your approach to fasting? How can it benefit me?
Fasting is the MOST powerful natural boost in the health in wellness.
9. How do you ensure safety during workouts, especially with nontraditional methods?
If you are unable to move, you are unable to train, and therefore unable to get results. Safety is my upmost priority. Movements are taught and then progressively attempted. The same with resistance. One of the main reasons I use resistance bands is that they are safer than traditional weights.
10. What is your experience with injury prevention and rehabilitation?
As an Corrective Exercise Specialist, I hold an advanced certification in correcting muscle imbalances, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
11. How do you handle clients with specific needs or limitations (e.g., injuries, health conditions)?
By constant communication and feedback mechanisms, such as a heart rate monitor. If something hurts, we don’t push, but try to work around. If the heart rate spikes, we have a seat and recover. And if there is a condition present that prevents common exercises, I have a large tool bag full of creative movements that will accomplish the same goal without injury.
12. What are your rates for personal training sessions? Are there any package deals?
I work by a monthly basis and per session, one-on-one and in small groups or pairs. Packages and monthly subscriptions are much more efficient than smaller per session packages.
13. What does a typical training session with you look like?
Depending on, if it's a consultation or a regular training session, I'll start with a recap of what happened last session, answer, any urgent questions, and get into the primary goal of the session. In the case of a training session with a current client, I will start by helping them warmup, and then take them through the workout, emphasizing mobility at the end of each session.
14. How do you measure progress and success in your clients?
15. How often should I train with you, and how long are the sessions?
16. Can you tell me more about your online nutritional counseling and coaching services?
17. What are the details of the fitness courses you're developing? How can I access them?
18. How do you stay updated with the latest research and trends in fitness and nutrition?
19. What is your cancellation policy?
20. Can you provide any testimonials or success stories from your previous clients?
These questions cover a broad range of topics and should give a new client a comprehensive understanding of your services, methods, and philosophy.
